It was the 16th of December 2012 when house music fans gathered at the Moses Mabhida Stadium to witness one man’s dream become true. A House music set coupled with a twist of a live orchestra and amazing vocalists, house music had taken a new leap in Africa. It had been changed forever. Well, good news for house heads! It seems 2016 might just be the year that we experience another Africa Rising show.
DJ Black Coffee, real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo, posted on social media on Monday that this is one of his dreams for next year- to host the concert at the FNB Stadium on Freedom Day. These news got house music fans excited, with some saying that their dream is to witness the multi-award winning DJ play at the almost 95 000 capacity stadium in 2016.
It is no doubt that this year has been a good one for Black Coffee. Not only did he embark on an international tour but he released his fifth studio album Pieces of Me and also won two awards at the annual DJ Awards in Ibiza. Given the success of his first Africa Rising show that was held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in 2012, it does not seem impossible that the talented DJ can fill up the FNB Stadium. After all, anything Black Coffee touches turns to platinum.
