Culoe De Song, Kris Davis & Quintin Chrisitian Takeover Truth Night Club

By: Touche Munyai

Midrand  came to a standstill on Saturday 24 September when international DJs Culoe De Song, Kris Davis and Quintin Christian took over the Truth Night Club stage for 'The Takeover' event.

Not surprising for a DJ of his luminary, Culoe De Song got the place going crazy when he started playing his set. Among the tracks he played, we have to say we can’t enough of his new track, ‘Judgement Day,’ which is currently out on the new Innervisions release- Secret Weapons 8. His was a long set of good house music, with our African brothers and sisters proving that the dance floor belongs to them indeed.

When it comes to the music, we also have to give it to the DJs for keeping everyone on their toes, proving that music indeed brings out the best in people and can bring different races together. When a remix of ‘Nkalakatha’ was played, everyone was screaming for more. We guess it was only befitting that tribute gets paid to Kwaito legend Mandoza after his recent passing.

In celebration of Heritage Day, we also noticed fellow house heads dancing to house music in their Zulu, Sotho and Xhosa cultural attires, which just made us so proud. Nothing beats seeing people proudly embracing their cultures.

Nicely designed for a night club, what we liked about the venue is that there was enough space away from the dance floor to allow for mingling between party attendants. The pool however should have a net or barrier for the safety of revellers. We have to give it to Truth Night Club when it comes to the music setup and the quality of the sound. It's always good to attend an event that’s properly organized. All in all, this was a good night out for us and we would not hesitate to visit the place again.
